people of R&S do you have any tattoos?
if so how many what of and when did you get your first? did they have spiritual or functional meaning?
my first two where when I was 14 , a helm of awe on my right forearm, and a sorta Celtic knot work surrounding some runes (it's a family tattoo) on my shoulder. I have a a fang that looks like it's frozen going from my left shoulder to my forearm. in the middle of my shoulder i have a Viking shield with a Teiwaz, in the middle of it. and on both sides of it i later had two wolves facing it added. I have an Uraz on my right wrist. and an Ansuz on my right wrist. and a dragon holding onto a Gebo rune on my right hip.
and yes they all have great meaning to me.
since everyone is mentioning piercings as well i might as well list mine. I have one in my left ear and one in my penis.
i have five, these are in the order i got them
right shoulder: chinese character that is supposed to mean everlasting friendship and i got it with my first long term gf (she got the same one) and we did get the symbol from a book bought in the Art Musuem of Philadelphia so i am hoping it is accurate
left shoulder: tribal dragon, it was some flash i saw at a tattoo convention i attended with aforementoned ex, i just liked it....now maybe not so much thinking about covering it up
between shoulder blades: symbol of the Alliance to Restore the Republic from Star Wars, i am a huge fan
left side of my calf: Oroborous wyrm, i was way into buddhism at the time and i liked the symbol as it stood for everything is cyclical and als to remind me that everything i do can come back to bite me on my @$$, which i really do need to be reminded of often
left forearm: darwin fish devouring an icthys (or yoni symbol if i hold my arm up) and basically it means that i choose evidence based science over blind faith and dogma
