Spanish Cxc
need some intelligent Jamaican help?
ok...so i'm about to take my cxc's in June -all sciences and a few others IT,Spanish,Social Studies etc.- i already did math and english and got a 1 in both.i will be doing my SATs soon. I want to become a doctor but i want to study in America or Canada.my questions are:
What subjects should i do in CAPE?
Should i even do CAPE or should i just do Biology and Biochem. in a university and then move on to med school?
What subjects should i do in the SAT exams?
and How do i make myself competitive for Med school?

CAPE- definitely Bio&Chem. Choose between Physics/Math
I think you should do CAPE. Some of the material you learn in your 1st 2 years of university will be the same stuff you did in CAPE, plus doing CAPE better prepares you for life in university than jumping straight in after 5th form. Especially since you plan on doing sciences.
SAT- Most schools just require the Math and Verbal/reasoning tests. I don't know if the other subject tests are offered in Jamaica. If they are I recommend you doing Bio & Chem.
Another advantage to doing CAPE is that some universities (mostly Canadian ones) offer you credits for good grades therefore you won't have to do as many courses.
To make yourself competitive in med school: 1. good grades-think all ONES
2. show long term evidence in volunteering in a social organisation- key club/ other school clubs, red cross, volunteer at a hospital,retirement home, orphanage etc.
3. show evidence of leadership- i don't know if you have prefects and form captains in jamaica like we do in Barbados. How about taking an executive role in a club in your school?
Question...why don't you consider applying to Uwi Mona? Its a really good med school plus all you would need is CAPE
