Russian Plywood
where is a good place to purchase a healthy female russian tortoise?
I currently have one male tortoise in a 25' X 12' outdoor enclosure. He has two artificial burrows, one i made by digging a 1 1/2' deep 2' X 2' hole in the ground, lining it with dirt-filled cinder blocks, covering it with two layers of plywood, and then mounding a large hill of dirt on top. That is the night time sleeping burrow, the other i made out of a bucket which i cut in half, dug it into the ground, and covered it with dirt. That's his daytime cool down burrow. The area is planted with various weeds and grasses, and gets full sun all day long, as well as good shaded areas to beat the heat. My little guy is living the good life, but he's lonely. =(... I feel that i can handle the responsibilities of another, if not a few more russian tortoises. Id love to breed. where can i find a female for my male?
Hi Jesse, Sounds like you are indeed giving your little guy the hollywood lifestyle. I'm sure he would love a female to share his "pad" with.
Both Petco & Pet smart both sell Russian Tortoises. I've been looking to purchase my first. Definitely would buy from Petco. They seem to have a larger selection of R.T. to chose from & look much more alert. Cost is around $80.00. Good Luck.
