The Western economic model is bankrupt.
Post Second World War socialized economies competing with the Russian "socialized" state have left the west with an economic model of growth based on leveraged debt, and with social obligations, pensions, and social security, that are unfundable.
The final era of post berlin wall expansion based on recycling Chinese holdings of US $ as loans to Western consumers, so they could buy ever more consumer items cracked under the pressure of commodity inflation.
The illusion of growth in Western economies which now produce almost no tangible wealth has left them as bankrupt shells.
Who is to blame??????
THE VOTERS who elected politicians who promised they could sustain such nonsense.
You are almost right. Your conclusion is right but the way you got there is not.
Yes the voters are bottom line problem. The politicians are absolutely the tool that was used to royally screw things up, but they did it through the use of taxation for the most part. They also did it by first passing a Ponsie scheme for wealth redistribution and called it Social Security. They then further compounded that problem by stealing the money in the Trust fund and spending it on pork and other ear marks.
Further compounding and greasing the skids was the elimination of the gold standard. Now nothing tangible backs our money. Money is an illusion. Commodities are the only wealth today.
The Republicans who controlled congress fell to the corruption that power and money always create and began spending like drunken Democrats. People like George Soros then bought political influence to use for his own agenda.
Scrapping the tax system in its entirety is the only thing that will effectively restore the economy. But to do that means the corrupt politicians would have to surrender their power. There are not enough honest politicians for that to happen. Remember, the vast majority of politicians are lawyers and the voters show no signs of wising up. A lawyer is never going to vote to eliminate their greatest source of power; the U.S. tax code.
Obama -- Change we neither need nor desire.
