If the US and Russia went to war right now...?
Okay, I know this is childish, but which is one's better?
US vehicles (M1A2 Abrams, Stryker, M3 Bradley CFV, etc.) OR Russian vehicles (T-90, BTR-90, BMP-3, etc.)?
US helicopters (AH-64 Apache, UH-60 Black Hawk, CH-47 Chinook, etc.) OR Russian helicopters (Mil Mi-28, Kamov Ka-60, etc.)
US aircraft (F-16 Fighting Falcon, F-22 Raptor, B-1 Lancer, etc.) OR Russian aircraft (Sukhoi Su-30, Mikoyan MiG-31, Tupolev Tu-160, etc.)?
US weapons (M9 pistol, M16A4 rifle, M4 carbine, M249 Squad Automatic Weapon, M240 machine gun, M2 Browning machine gun, AT4, etc.) OR Russian weapons (Makarov PM, AK-74M, RPK-74, PK machine gun, NSV machine gun, RPG-29, etc.)?

The Russians had a good military in the 1990s. Their economy collapsed. Spending on military equipment and soldiers also collapsed. Russia today is attempted to overcome about a decade of military neglect.The Russians have some very capable units. Their special forces may be the world's best. But most of the Russian army is not prepared to fight an army like the United States.
Secondly, it ain't all about equipment. Tactics are very important. Russian forces still read out of a Soviet playbook, which is a top-down dominated battlefield. Decisions are made by generals and colonels and captains, lieutenants and sergeants carry out the decisions made by their commanders. In Western warfare, including U.S. battlefield doctrine, generals and colonels make broad plans which are filled in by majors, captains, lieutenants and sergeants as the local situation dictates. In other words, Russian planning has little flexibility at the operational stage and American planning has great flexibility at the operational stage. This has always been the greatest advantage that American and Western forces have held over nations that rely on the Soviet playbook.
The United States would win due to superior forces overall and better tactical doctrine.
