Buon Appetito! Italian Appetizers as Bridal Shower Food
A bridal shower should be fun and relaxing for the bride, but this doesn't mean it can't be enjoyable for the hostesses too. It is possible to host an elaborate and elegant bridal shower without a lot of effort.
One way to do this is to simplify the bridal shower food. Rather than serving one full meal, why not offer guests a variety of Italian appetizers? They are filling and easy to eat, with no need to sit down with a fork and knife, and they offer guests variation instead of one set food option. Paired with an assortment of wines and arranged on nice serving dishes, these Italian appetizers can make a stylish and tasty statement.
An appetizer that's sure to delight guests of all ages is bruschetta. Making bruschetta is easier and tastier than ever thanks to Volpi Foods, America's oldest and most prestigious manufacturer of Italian meat products. Volpi produces Italian traditional rotola, which is thinly sliced prosciutto hand-rolled in whole milk mozzarella. One particularly crowd-pleasing bruschetta recipe uses Volpi's Basil Rotola, which includes fresh basil leaves among the layers of mozzarella and prosciutto.
Pre-heat your broiler on a low temperature. Take one loaf of French bread, and cut vertical slices about one half inch thick. Arrange the slices on a cookie sheet and place in the broiler until lightly toasted. Once the bread is toasted to a light golden brown, take them out of the oven and spread a thin layer of basil pesto on top of each slice. Open one package of Volpi Basil Rotola, cut it into thin slices, then place one slice on top of each piece of bread. To make them into mini pizzas, add the pesto and rotola slices to the bread slices before toasting them to let the mozzarella melt a bit.
Volpi Rotola gives the Italian traditional bruschetta recipe a modern twist, saving time in the kitchen and making an impressive addition to any party menu. The basil, garlic and pine nuts in the pesto bring so much flavor to the already flavorful rotola. Suggested beverage pairings include dry sparkling wine or Pinot Grigio wine.
You can even slice and serve Volpi Rotola as an Italian appetizer in itself. Plus, it comes in other variations such as Sun Dried Tomato, Hot Salami and Hot Capocolla. For a quick and delicious antipasto platter, simply arrange the rotola slices on a plate with olives and crackers.
Remember, you don’t have to be a chef to prepare fantastic bridal shower food, and there’s no need to hire a caterer. Simple to make Italian appetizers, such as this bruschetta recipe, are impressive to serve and sure to please.
