1) b. Middle Kingdom was a time of pessimism. The King Sesostris III sculpture stands out from typical Egyptian art in that, instead of the usual tranquil, regal look depicted on pharaohs' faces, Sesostris III looks sad.
That's the only one I know, although I'm pretty sure cave painters used clay and stone. Good luck
