Indian National in UK on work permit, wanting to apply for schengen visa?
Hi,
I am traveling shortly to UK on work permit entry clearance Visa which is valid until 27-Dec-2009. I want to visit Swiss and France for 6-7 day. Can I apply for a schengen visa from UK? If yes, where can I apply in London and what documents will be required?
You can't apply for a French Schengen visa from the U.K.
The French Consulate General does not issue visa to those who are in the UK on a visa status which a valid for only six months or less. People must apply for their Schengen visas before travelling to the UK in their country of residence.

In order to apply for a Switzerland Schengen visa from the U.K. you would need to hold a residence permit for the U.K. which is valid for at least three month beyond your intended stay in the Schengen zone.

It is recommended that you apply for the Schengen visa from your home country prior to travel; the application needs to be addressed to the country in which you plan to stay the longest time; if that should be equally distributed it would be the country you plan to enter first.
