France Omi

ANAEM. Marriage and living in France. Does anyone have paperwork hints?
I have a quite complicated situation--one that is not helped by the fact that every French govn. organization I must deal with gives me a different answer........
I am currently in France with a carte de sejour, travailleur temporaire with an autorisation provisoire de travail. I'm getting married in one month, so after our wedding I am going to ask for the carte de sejour vie privee et familaile.
Last week, the prefecture told me I will have to pay a 70 euro 'timbre OMI'. (the first I heard about it.) The mayor's office in my village has no clue. Now today, I called the ANAEM to see if I need to pay this and they're telling me not only do I need to do ANOTHER medical visit, but I have to pay 275 euros.
All these different answers are truly frustrating. Each agency tells me the other 'is wrong. they don't know what they're talking about.'
Anyone been in a similar situation that can lend some advice? I'm at my wit's ends! Thanks
Pretty standard problem here in France: What you need to do depends on who you ask. I'd never had to have a timbre OMI before but apparently (in my case anyway - visa scientifique) the rules changed at the beginning of the year and so I need one for the renewal of my carte de séjour. Medical visits do cost something and in my case I'm pretty sure my work gets a bill and pays it. Maybe because you will be asking for a family visa you will have to pay it yourself. It's strange but, unfortunately, not really surprising that they want you to do another med test. I've found the CIDJ (Centre Information et Documentation Jeunesse - do a google search for their website) useful before in terms of getting info but they've been wrong before too. You can try and see what they say just for interest. Sorry this isn't super helpful but it's all the info I have. Bon courage!
