Opera - Tchaikovsky
Many people will be able to associate Tchaikovsky with the Nutcracker Ballet. This may be one of his most famous ballets but it is definitely not his only work. He was a composer of Russian nationality and he completed his work during the Romantic period. He worked on a wide range of things that would range from symphonies, ballets, operas and even chamber music. This is very interesting to know because he was actually raised in a middle class family where he was groomed for work as a civil servant.
He spent around 11 years completing various important pieces of music. He worked very hard from 1867 to 1878. Some of the more famous things that he did included Swan Lake, the First Piano Concerto, and even The Little Russian. Many of these works will stand out to many people and this is true even if they do not know a lot of classical works or the individuals that created them.
It is also very interesting to know that Tchaikovsky also composed the 1812 Overture. Again, this is another amazing piece of music that many people will at least admit to knowing. It is often recognized when it is played, even if people do not know what it is called, or who created it. He also composed the ballet Sleeping Beauty. Many people may not know that because they associate his name with the Nutcracker and Swan Lake.
Tchaikovsky has been known for some of the operas that he has composed as well. If you know anything about the opera then you may have heard of The Queen of Spades. This is actually one of his more famous works that many people are able to associate with him.
Tchaikovsky has been very important when it comes to the ballet and the opera.
