On Assisting Your Hyperactive Child Concentrate
Children with ADHD need to be helped with focusing and controlling themselves; parents need to be attentive of the things that they can do to help their child focus improved. Humanistic therapy has extended ways where children with ADHD can be helped to cope with the disorder better, but at times simple techniques can really help the child cope with the situation at hand. Having a child with ADHD may be a frustrating experience at first, principally when you don’t understand why a child acts that way. Here are some tips to help you teach your child to improve his or her motivation:
Take some time day by day to practice deep breathing exercises. The pulling out and releasing of breath not only helps relax your child’s muscles, it also helps the child focus by considering the breathing pattern and focusing on simply that. Demonstarte to your child to step him or herself to avoid hyperventilation. The oxygenation of the brain and the balanced sequence of breathing helps in keeping the mind from drifting.
Walk around the block or in a park once in a while. Walking is a great exercise that needs coordination and is pretty cyclical in nature. Walking is actually therapeutic, even for you; it takes the tension out by stretching and contracting the muscles and encouraging proper breathing.
Do something creative to deflect the need to act out or do something destructive. Arts and craft is something that children can find to be fun; it also takes some level of awareness and interest to detail to get the artwork looking just how you want it to appear. It’s good to keep your child’s art supplies appropriately plugged so that he or she can lay into this when feeling stressed out or unable to cope with frustrations.
Set aside some time for touch therapy with your child.
Gently stroke your child’s back, shoulders, and neck to calm your child down. This type of touch therapy works very perfectly in calming down kids with ADHD.
Make your home more welcoming to your child by extracting all the clutter around the house, markedly in his or her room. Present your child with big plastic box containers where he or she can keep toys, art materials, and other stuff that can be definitely left lying around. Playing can be a good way for your child to ascertain concentration; play therapy can help you out with this. This is thought to be more effective on children because children take action added to play than to other customary forms of therapy.
