Who is Gino From the KC and the Sunshine Band's Shake Your Booty?
I was at a Boston Celtics' game tonight and there were chants of "We want Gino." I didn't realize they were referring to a dancer who was wearing a Gino T-Shirt from the KC and the Sunshine Band's Shake Your Booty video (the crowd went wild when he came on screen). Does anyone know if the man wearing the Gino Tee is just a dancer or is he actually famous?
Gino is legendary. This tradition has been going on I am pretty sure since the beginning of the Jumbotron and the Garden/Fleetcenter. It at least goes back to the 2001 season. The Gino clip is only played if the Celtics are winning in a blow out. I came back from the Garden after last night's schlacking of the Nuggets and sent this text to my pal out in LA.... "two games, two Ginos". Bill Simmons of ESPN once described Gino as having a "terrifying George Lucas like beard". Amen.
